Federal Government has reaffirmed commitment to transforming Nigerian Army University Biu into a premier institution for specialised military and civilian capacity building.

Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa stated this while receiving the University’s Governing Council at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja.

General Musa assured the management of sustained strategic support emphasizing that the University remains critical to equipping personnel with the technical and operational expertise required to defeat complex security challenges.

The minister disclosed that the Defence ministry will collaborate directly with the Armed Forces of Nigeria to fully utilize the Thirty Percent admission quota allocated to military personnel.

“As the Federal Government pushes for a highly skilled workforce in this digital era, we must encourage members of the Armed Forces, ministry staff, and the general public to leverage the cutting-edge technological and academic solutions available at NAUB,” the Minister stated.

Leader of the delegation and Pioneer Pro-Chancellor of the University Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd) commended General Musa for his tenacious leadership and strategic foresight, noting that his contributions continue to strengthen Nigeria’s defence architecture.

Lieutenant General Buratai expressed deep appreciation for the Minister’s dedication to the Armed Forces and the nation, reassuring him of the university community’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, research, and national service.

A statement from special Adviser Media to the Minister, Leah Katung Babatunde says the high-level meeting was a joint commitment between the Minister and the Governing Council to urgently address campus infrastructural needs.

It notes that key among the planned developments is the construction of a state-of-the-art Centre for Military Performance Management; a landmark project that will be the first of its kind in Africa.
