The Kano State Special Task Force on the Identification of Illegal Infrastructures has ordered the immediate removal of a gate allegedly erected across a public access road in Rimin Auzinawa Quarters, Tudun Yola C, Ungogo Local Government Area.
Chairman of the task force and Director-General of the Kano State Geographic Information System (KANGIS), Dr. Dalhatu Aliyu Sani, issued the directive during an inspection of the area following complaints from residents.
Dr. Sani said the inspection was prompted by a petition submitted by members of the Rimin Auzinawa community, alleging that Magaji Isyaka Mai Hula had converted a public access road into private property by installing a permanent gate across it.
According to the petition, the gate has restricted residents’ movement despite repeated appeals and previous police intervention.
The task force directed Mai Hula to remove the gate immediately, warning that the government would enforce compliance if the directive was ignored.
He was also instructed to appear before the committee with the Certificate of Occupancy for his landed properties and the approved building permit.
Dr. Sani described the alleged obstruction of a road serving the community as a violation of town planning regulations and Islamic principles, stressing that the Kano State Government would not tolerate illegal structures that deny public access, inconvenience residents, or pose security risks.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to protecting public infrastructure and ensuring that individuals do not unlawfully deprive residents of their rights.
Speaking on behalf of the affected community, counsel to the residents, Barrister Aminu Garba Sabonsara, commended the state government for its swift intervention.
He said the response reflected the governor’s commitment to protecting the welfare of citizens and praised the task force for enforcing urban planning regulations across the state.
Residents of Rimin Auzinawa had earlier appealed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to intervene, alleging that the access road was unlawfully blocked after the gate was erected, thereby restricting movement within the community.
