North-West leadership of the Hashim Progressives Movement (HPM) has reaffirmed its support for the Presidential Candidate of the Accord Party, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo Hashim, describing him as the party’s only legitimate candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The group made the declaration during a press conference held at Sahaba Hall in Rigasa, Kaduna.

Representatives of the Hashim Progressives Movement, drawn from the seven North-West states, converged in Kaduna to express their position on recent developments within the Accord Party.

Addressing journalists, the North-West Zonal Coordinator of the movement, Comrade Bashir Muhammad Goje Alade, alleged that some individuals were plotting to undermine the mandate freely given to Dr. Gbenga Olawepo Hashim during the party’s presidential primaries.

“Dr. Gbenga Olawepo Hashim is the only legal, legitimate and solid presidential candidate of the Accord Party. He participated fully in the primaries and emerged victorious in compliance with the Constitution, the Electoral Act and the Accord Party Constitution.”

Comrade Bashir warned against any attempt to substitute or manipulate the outcome of the party’s presidential primaries, insisting that party members across the North-West would resist such moves through lawful means.

He further condemned what he described as clandestine efforts aimed at undermining internal democracy within the party.

“Any attempt at substitution or backdoor manipulation will be rejected outright by the party base. The mandate given by delegates and members cannot be auctioned or hijacked by a few self-serving individuals.”

Also speaking, the Zonal Women Leader of the movement, Ambassador Aisha Ya’u Abdullahi, called on party members to remain united and steadfast in their support for Dr. Hashim.

The group appealed to the National Working Committee of the Accord Party, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, security agencies and other democratic stakeholders to uphold due process and protect the outcome of the party’s presidential primaries.

The movement maintained that Dr. Gbenga Olawepo Hashim remains the choice of its members and urged supporters across the North-West to remain calm and loyal to the party.

The press conference was attended by members of the Hashim Progressives Movement from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States.
