The Kwara State Police Command says it has deployed the use of modern policing technology to recover a stolen vehicle in Ilorin.

In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejinre -Adeyemi says on 27th of April, 2026 the Command received a report that a Toyota Matrix vehicle was stolen from a parking space at Mandate Market, Ilorin.

It says the operatives activated an integrated vehicle tracking and immobilization system linked to the vehicle’s security device.

It explains that the technology enabled real-time geolocation tracking and remote engine immobilization, which significantly aided the recovery effort.

The statement says the vehicle’s location was successfully traced to the Jebba Expressway axis, where it was found abandoned by the roadside.

It says preliminary findings also revealed that the suspects attempted to frustrate identification by altering the registration number, while the original plate number was recovered nearby.
