As part of efforts to address persistent power shortages, Radio Nigeria Kaduna has awarded a contract for the installation of an alternative power supply system at its Jaji sub-station to improve service delivery across Northern Nigeria.

The Acting Zonal Director of the station, Mallam Lawal Ali Garba, disclosed this while receiving members of the Committee for Kaduna Polytechnic’s Combined Convocation and 70th Anniversary celebration at his office in Kaduna.

Represented by the Deputy Director, News and Current Affairs, Mallam Aminu Abdullahi Gombi, the Acting Zonal Director said the station was on the verge of reclaiming its past glory through major infrastructural upgrades aimed at enhancing operations.

He explained that, in line with the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and with the support of the Supervising Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, funds had been secured for critical projects, including the procurement of a new 50-kilowatt medium-wave transmitter for Jaji.

He added that the contract for the installation of a solar power system at the Jaji station had already been awarded.

Speaking on the Kaduna Polytechnic combined convocation and anniversary celebration, Mallam Aminu Gombi said the visit had created an opportunity for stronger collaboration between both institutions, assuring the Polytechnic of the station’s support in creating awareness for the event.

Earlier, the Deputy Rector (Academics) of Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Grace Jamila Billa, who led the delegation, commended Radio Nigeria Kaduna for its role in informing and educating Nigerians on local, national, and international issues.

Dr. Billa said about 60,000 graduates would participate in the convocation activities, which include a pre-convocation lecture, dinner, exhibition of machines and equipment produced by the Polytechnic, the grand finale of the convocation, and the institution’s 70th anniversary celebration.
