Federal Government has announced plans to embark on a nationwide media tour to highlight key achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration under the Renewed Hope Ambassadors initiative.
During a press briefing in Abuja, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the initiative is designed to give journalists firsthand access to projects and programmes implemented across the country.
According to him, the tour will take media practitioners, including social media influencers, to various states to independently verify government projects and assess their impact.
He explained that the tour will not only focus on federal government initiatives but also highlight projects executed by state governments, noting that increased allocations to sub-national governments have enabled more capital projects.
Also speaking, Director of Media and Publicity for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Tunde Rahman, said the North-West region will host the first phase of the tour due to its strategic importance.
He said the exercise will showcase ongoing and completed projects in infrastructure, healthcare, and transportation across the region, adding that President Tinubu’s administration is being assessed based on its achievements ahead of the 2027 elections.
“In the power sector, this is the first time Nigeria is generating about 6,000 megawatts of electricity due to reforms by the Tinubu administration,”
Mr Rahman listed key projects to include the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road, Badagry–Sokoto Road, Abuja–Kaduna Road, and rail lines from Kaduna to Kano and Kano to Maradi in Niger Republic.
He said the government is communicating these achievements to show progress in national development.
Also providing updates on rail infrastructure, Director of Rail Transport Services at the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Finbarr Zirra, said major projects are nearing completion, particularly in the North-West.
He disclosed that the Kaduna–Kano rail line is over 60 percent completed, while the Kano–Maradi line is also progressing, with partial operations expected by December this year.
Mr Zirra said rail development is part of efforts to modernise transportation, reduce road congestion, and boost economic activity, adding that plans are underway for a high-speed rail project linking Lagos, Kano, and Port Harcourt.
He noted challenges such as vandalism of rail infrastructure and said government is working with security agencies and communities to address the issue.
Other interventions highlighted at the briefing include the recapitalisation of the Bank of Agriculture to N1.5 trillion, expansion of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), and healthcare reforms.
Senior Special Assistant to the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Chinedu Moghalu, said the ministry achieved 37 out of 41 performance indicators by the third quarter of 2025.
An official of the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking Healthcare Value Chains, Nasiru Mohammed, said the 2024 executive order on local pharmaceutical manufacturing is helping boost domestic production and reduce reliance on imports.
“The private pharmaceuticals have benefitted extensively from the executive order on local manufacturing of medicines”
He added that new cancer treatment centres have been established in several states as part of ongoing healthcare reforms.
