Minister of Transportation, Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, has joined the list of cabinet members who have resigned from office ahead of the March 31 deadline.

Mr. Alkali was at the State House to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The closed-door meeting was reportedly connected to his resignation, which he later confirmed to State House correspondents.

The former minister is said to be pursuing his ambition to contest the Gombe State governorship election in the 2027 general elections.

He joins other ministers who have stepped down, including Yusuf Tuggar, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Yusuf Tanko Sununu, former Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu also received his former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, at the Presidential Villa.

The visit marks his first official audience with the President since leaving office. Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, it is believed discussions centred on the political situation in Jigawa State.
