VSAT

Federal Government has commenced training for 600 youths in the National Policy on Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) Core Skills, a programme associated with satellites and it’s economic value.

This is in furtherance of its commitment to empowering indigenes with the requisite digital skills for a globally competitive digital economy.

Launching the policy at the Digital Economy Complex, Abuja, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, noted that the policy was in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s digital skills, job creation and economic development Agenda, and the United Nation’s recent global policy on capacity building for citizens.

Dr Pantami noted that against the premise that satellite technology VSAT was an obsolete resource, it is again gaining relevance in today’s digital world.

He urged participants to make judicious use of the knowledge and the facilities so as not to defeat the objective of the initiative.

The initiative is launched under the Nigeria Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) covering the six geo-political zones of the country, starting with Kano, Kebbi, Ekiti, Lagos, Gombe, Bauchi, Abia, Anambra, Niger, Plateau, Rivers and Akwa Ibom states.

The training is holding simultaneously across the country.
