The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warmly welcomed the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, and his supporters into the party.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Yusuf Idris Gusau, described the governor’s decision to join the ruling party as a significant development that will further strengthen unity and political cohesion in the state.
According to the statement, the party leadership, on behalf of the Zamfara APC leader and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, along with other prominent leaders including Ahmad Sani Yerima, Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, and Abdulaziz Yari, as well as the state party executives under the chairmanship of Tukur Umar Danfulani, expressed delight over the governor’s defection to the party.
The statement noted that, Governor Lawal and his supporters are now recognised as full-fledged members of the APC and will enjoy all rights and privileges accorded to party members.
It further expressed optimism that the development would enhance unity among party members in Zamfara State and strengthen the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also called on its members across the state to support the development in order to consolidate the gains of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda.
The APC added that, it remains confident that the new political alignment will foster greater unity of purpose and contribute to improved economic and developmental prospects for the people of Zamfara State.
