Kachia and Jaba Local Government Areas have reaffirmed their commitment to rural transformation and socio-economic development following the defence of their 2026 budget proposals before the Kaduna State House of Assembly Committee on Appropriation and Implementation.

The Executive Chairman of Kachia Local Government Area, Manzo Daniel Maigari, said the council has proposed over six billion naira in its 2026 fiscal plan to drive infrastructural and socio-economic development across the area.

He noted that the local government is intensifying efforts to improve security and promote urban development in anticipation of population growth following the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia.

According to him, the council intends to leverage the expected influx of residents to strengthen existing economic activities, particularly ginger farming.

Similarly, the Chairman of Jaba Local Government Council, Larai Soliyo Ishaku, reaffirmed her administration’s resolve to align with the state government’s development blueprint to improve the socioeconomic wellbeing of the people.

She disclosed that the council has proposed over 4.7 billion naira for the 2026 fiscal year, to be financed through statutory allocations and internally generated revenue.

Mrs. Ishaku also emphasised the importance of agriculture to Jaba’s economy, pledging that her administration would prioritise farming activities, particularly ginger cultivation, as part of efforts to stimulate economic growth and enhance livelihoods in the area.
