Work for the reconstruction of Agwara Police Station in Niger state that has been destroyed by dynamite during an attack by bandits is to commence this week.

 

This followed the approval of the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun of the request to that effect by Commissioner of Police in charge of Niger state, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman.

 

Commissioner of Police Adamu Abdullahi Elleman who stated this in a telephone interview with Radio Nigeria in Minna, said the police will not rest on its oars until perpetrators of that heinous act the bandits were apprehended and brought to book with those abducted regaining their freedom.

 

According to staff of Works Department will this week proceed to Agwara to ensure the commencement of work that is expected to be completed soon to enable officers and men of Agwara Police Station relocate from the temporary office they are now occupying to their main office.

 

Adamu Abdullahi Elleman applauded the Inspector General of Police Mr Kayode Egbetokun for sending one hundred armed mobile police  from Mopol twelve and sixteen to Agwara to provide security in addition to over twenty policemen provided by the Commissioner of Police to ensure a successful operation.

 

He however thanked Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state whom he said has been supportive interns of logistics to keep the troop comfortable in the area to discharge their duties diligently.

 

On the rumour of fresh attack by bandits, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Niger state described such rumour as false and misleading while advising members of community not to panic, because the protection of lives and properties of Niger lites by the police remain sacrosanct.
