At least 600, widows, women and Youths have been empowered with working tools, food items and cash by members representing Ilorin South Constituency of Kwara state to make them self reliant.

Speaking at the empowerment event themed “From Vision to Reality: Two Years of Delivering for the Constituency” (Iwosan Tesiwaju 4.0), organised by the members representing Ilorin South Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Maryam Yusuf Aladi, the APC Chairman in Kwara State, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, said the initiative aims to lift people out of poverty.

Represented by the special Adviser to Kwara state governor on politics, Sulyman Abubakar, the APC Chairman thanked the party members for their support to the visionary leadership in the state.

According to him, party members and other residents of the state will receive dividends of democracy as promised by the party.

Prince Fagbemi noted that the empowerment for women, widows and others is a commendable effort to alleviate their sufferings.

He thanked the donor for her farsightedness in assisting the less privileged people in the society.

In his address, the Speaker Kwara state House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, represented by Seun Ogunniyi said the legislatures are always encouraged to give back to the society in order to make life better for the common man.

He appealed to other members to follow the foot print of those who have empowered the less privileged to do same for the people to reduce unemployment in the society.

In her goodwill message, the Kwara state APC women leader Hajiya Falilat Mohammed, commended the donor for supporting those who are in need.

She said many of the beneficiaries need a little thing to start up something.

Hajiya Falilat urged the beneficiaries to ensure they use the item and cash gift for the purposes they are meant for.

In her remarks, the APC Senatorial woman leader Hajiya Tawakalitu Agaka expressed joy with the initiative to support the widows and the less privileged.

She advised the beneficiaries no to sell the items giving to them .

For his part, the Chairman Ilorin South local government area of Kwara state,Nuhu Podo, thanked the state government for providing the enabling environment for them to give dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

He urged all party members to ensure they acquire the necessary documents such as national Identity number and voters card to enable them benefits more good thing from the state and federal government.

Earlier in her address, the members representing Ilorin South Constituency,at the Kwara state House of Assembly, Maryam Yusuf Aladi, said the empowerment was done to support the people of her constituency.

She urged the beneficiaries to see the gesture as a way for them to start a business that will enable them support the family.

Items distributed included , Washing Machines, Dryer, Solar Fans, Grinding Machine Sewing machines and freezers among others.
