Jigawa State Agency for Mass Education says it has earmarked the sum of 400 million naira for its services in 2026.

The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Abbas Abubakar Abbas, disclosed this while defending the New Year’s budget proposal before the House of Assembly Committee on Basic Education.

Dr. Abbas explained that the agency would utilize the funds to further improve basic literacy, continuing education, remediation, and radio learning programmes across designated centres.

Also defending the 2026 budget before the committee, the Executive Secretary of the Tsangaya Education Board, Dr. Abubakar Maje Hamisu, said 3.5 billion naira was earmarked for the New Year, with plans to complete the construction of Tsangaya schools in Ringim, Kafin Hausa, and Dutse.

He explained that provisions were made for the construction of skill acquisition centers, head teacher residences, mosques, water supply and electricity in the schools.

Dr. Abubakar Maje Hamisu added that the board will embark on the renovation of the 7 inherited federal government Tsangaya schools across the state to further strengthen the modernTsangaya education system.

Also, the State Polytechnic Dutse and State Scholarships Board have defended their new year’s budget estimates before the state house of assembly committee on higher education.

The Rector of the state polytechnic Dutse Dr. Ahmad Badayi, said that over 700 million naira was earmarked for the 2026 fiscal year out of which 330 million Naira was set aside for the supply of laboratory equipment and workshop tools while the rest of the amount would be expended on the completion of ongoing projects.

Also defending the 2026 budget estimate of his agency, the Executive Secretary of the state scholarship board Malam Sa’idu Magaji, explained that 10 billion naira was proposed for the internal and external scholarships.

In his remark, the Chairman of the Jigawa state house of assembly committee on higher education who is the member representing Sule-tankarkar constituency, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Sa’id, stressed the need for stakeholders in the higher education sector to direct more attention toward improved service delivery in 2026.
