Jigawa State Government has commenced the construction of drainages in Malam Madori and Kaugama Local Government Areas of the state.

Our correspondent, Usman Mohammed Zaria, reports that a team of engineers from the state government visited the affected areas for on-site assessment.

The team leader and Director of Flood and Erosion Control, Engineer Mukhtar Muhammad Usman, alongside his deputy, Engineer Mahdi Isyaku, inspected areas affected by the recent flood disaster in Malam Madori.

Engineer Usman explained that the construction of a two-kilometre drainage system has commenced as part of efforts to divert contaminated water to a newly designed channel.

He further revealed that work is also ongoing on a 300-metre drainage project at the Gandun Sarki community to address long-standing erosion challenges in the area.

The Engineer pointed out that, the construction include over 390 meters at Kantamari and over 500 meters at Zaburan in Kaugama local government area.

Member representing Malam madori at state House of assembly, Alhaji Hamza Adamu Babayaro Malam Madori was among the dignitaries witnessed the flagging off of the 2,000 meters drainage at kampala Quarters to curb flood disaster in the area.

The chairman of Kampala community, Ibrahim Zakar pledged to provide accommodation to the workers as part of the community’s contribution and ensure quality drainage construction in the area.

In his remarks, the council chairman, Alhaji Salisu Sani Garun-Gabas commended Governor Umar Namadi for the fulfilling the promise made during the visit to forestall future occurrence of flood disaster that destroyed many houses at kampala Quarters in Malam madori.

The council chairman was represented by his Vice, Hajia Amina Haruna Dokaje during the flagging off exercise.
