Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi state has approved the release of ₦1.4 billion for the procurement of school furniture across the state as part of his administration’s continuous efforts to improve the education sector.
The Chief of Staff, Government House, Birnin Kebbi, Barrister Attahiru Maccido, made this known while briefing journalists shortly after the State Executive held in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
Barrister Maccido explained that the Governor, being a core educationist and a veteran classroom teacher by profession, remains deeply committed to revitalizing the education sector, which he regards as his primary constituency.
He said this will address a serious shortage of furniture in many schools, including those within the state capital and across the local government areas adding that, this initiative will go a long way in improving the learning environment and raising the educational standards across the state.
In a related development, Gov. Idris has approved the release of ₦900 million as a take-off grant for the newly established Kebbi State Bureau of Statistics.
The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Abba Sani Kalgo, made this known while briefing newsmen after the council meeting.
He added that the funds will enable the Bureau to commence full operations and deliver accurate, measurable, and purpose-driven data to guide policy formulation and implementation in the state.
