Politicians in Niger state have been advised to uphold the virtues of integrity and decorum that the state is known for to ensure the success of the forthcoming Local Government Councils election in the state.
The election which is schedule to hold on the first of November this year, promises to be transparent and seamless, with preparations by the electoral empire already in full swing.
Special Adviser to the Niger state Governor Political and Strategy, Alh Mohammed Nma Kolo gave the advice in a statement issued to Newsmen in Minna.
Alh Nma Kolo also reminded them that in every contest there must be a winner and a loser and stressed the need for them to desist from engaging in politics of do or i die affairs to enhance rapid development of Niger state.
The Special Adviser Political and Strategy emphasized the importance of unity and a sense of purpose among all stakeholders. “Let us view the pursuit of political office not as a quest for power, but as a call to service, so that when we prioritize service over personal ambition, we enhance development and strengthen our democracy,” he said.
He however commended the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) for its impartial stance and urged political actors in the state to adhere to the rules guiding electoral process, given the administration’s commitment to democratic principles under Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, he is optimistic that the election will be conducted smoothly.
“Our governor is an astute politician who understands the importance of abiding by the rules., and therefore we should reciprocate this gesture and commitment by ensuring a peaceful and seamless election process,” he added.
Alh Mohammed Nma Kolo called on stakeholders to support Governor Umar Bago vision for a “New Niger” and praised the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) for fostering a culture of decorum and unity among political parties, and encouraged IPAC to continue its efforts in promoting a level playing field for all parties to freely ventilate their views so that together, they can ensure that democracy thrives and Niger state continues to grow from strength to strength.
