Federal Government has announced the resolution of the dispute between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Dangote Group.

According to a statement issued early Wednesday by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, PENGASSAN will call off its nationwide strike while the management of Dangote will redeploy the over 800 workers earlier disengaged.

The Minister said the meeting reaffirmed that unionisation is a right of workers under Nigerian law, stressing that the disengaged staff will be redeployed within Dangote companies without loss of pay.

He added that no worker will be victimised over their role in the dispute.

Dr Dingyadi confirmed that PENGASSAN has agreed to begin the process of calling off the strike, while both parties pledged to implement the resolutions in good faith.

Government delegation at the meeting included the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; Minister of State for Labour, Barrister Nkeiruka Onyejeocha; DG of the DSS, Adeola Ajayi; and DG of the NIA, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
