Federal Government Retirees have demanded settlement of their outstanding benefits including new minimum pension by the end of this month to avoid unprecedented protests across the country.

National Co-ordinator of the Federal Pensioners Unions Comrade Mukaila Ogunbote stated this in a communiqué at the end of a strategic meeting of the leadership to decide on the protests in Lagos.

Comrade Mukaila Ogunbote also Chairman NIPOST Pensioners Association for South West was dismayed over delayed payment of the benefits despite several assurances in the past.

He warned against non-challant attitudes by the relevant authorities and called for effective mobilization towards success of the protests expected after a world press conference next week Tuesday to express grievances of the senior citizens.

Comrade Mukaila Ogunbote prayed for the repose of the souls of deceased retires whose benefits should be paid to next of kin while for proactive measures by the National Assembly to address the problem.
