Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has commended Alhaji Abba Aliero for his philanthropic intervention in repairing two critical bridges — the Rara Bridge and the Liba Bridge along the Sokoto–Koko–Jega federal highway.

Governor Idris gave the commendation on his way back to Birnin Kebbi from Zuru, where he stopped over and inspect the collapsed roads.

He expressed appreciation for Abba Aliero’s effort in complementing government initiatives, especially at a time when floods have caused severe damage to roads, bridges, farmlands and other infrastructure across the state.

Dr Nasiru Idris said the repairs have eased transportation challenges and prevented these bridges from being washed away by floods.

The Governor further explained that, they have informed the Federal Ministry of Works on the poor condition of this road because of its international importance., adding that, those routes are vital, not only to the state but to neighboring countries that use them daily.

He noted that government alone cannot meet all societal needs and called on well-meaning individuals to support development efforts and thank Abba Aliero for using his personal resources and equipment to save the situation temporarily.

In his remarks, Alhaji Abba Aliero explained that, he undertook the repairs to prevent the roads from total cut off and to assist commuters, noting that the route also serves as an international link to neighboring countries.

According to him, he ask for the permission from the governor before proceeding to the repairs, and expressed gratitude to for allowing him to carry out the intervention.
