Some of the abducted girls after regaining freedom

Abducted school children of Jangebe Government Girls Secondary School GGSS in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara state have regained freedom.

Receiving the abductees at the government house in Gusau, Governor Bello Matawalle said the school girls would be in government custody to undergo counseling and medical examination before being reunited with their families.

According to him, the number of the abducted girls are 279 as against the 317 reported by some media.

Alhaji Bello Matawalle noted that no ransom was paid for their release.

The governor called on parents to exercise more patience as very soon the children would be with them and urged the families to take this incidence as a destiny from God.

The girls were abducted from their school dormitory last Friday, by bandits, few days after another set of students were also abducted in Niger state.

In December, more than 300 boys were kidnapped from a school in Kankara, Katsina state.
