Amid growing concerns over potential flooding in Kano, officials from the Kanostate Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring, and Evaluation (MPPPM&E)have conducted an on-site inspection of key road projects.

Places visited includes Tudun Yola–Dansudu Bypass and Dorawar Yan Kifi Road.

The inspection comes after residents expressed worries about inadequate drainage systems along these roads, which could lead to severe waterlogging and damage during heavy downpours.

According to a statement signed by the public relations officer Kano MPPPM&E Sagiru Ado Abubakar made available to newsmen.

The Tudun Yola–Dansudu Bypass, currently under construction, features three critical culverts that must be properly maintained to prevent overflow.

The Statement noted that encroachments on the two sites have disrupted the natural waterway and could exacerbate flooding.

“There’s a significant volume of water from Kabuga and surrounding communities flowing through this corridor”

The public relations officer pointed out that, the MPPPM&E Ministry directed the contractor to take immediate, proactive measures to improve drainage and ensure the safety of lives and property as the rainy season intensifies.

Meanwhile, at the Dorawar Yan Kifi Road project, which includes two major culverts, construction has faced delays due to disputes between the contractor and local residents over the proper alignment of water channels.

“The ministry recently intervened to mediate and ensure the project continues with minimal disruption”

In a related development, the Ministry also visited the Government Girls Secondary School in Babban Giji, Karkasara, to oversee the supply and installation of seating facilities, reinforcing its commitment to overall project accountability.

Sagiru Ado Abubakar, emphasized the ministry’s dedication to ensuring critical infrastructure projects meet quality standards and help prevent flooding, especially as the rainy season progresses.
