Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has launched a cash transfer programme targeting approximately 450,000 beneficiaries across the state.
The official launching ceremony took place in Tsafe Local Government Area of the state, where debit cards were distributed to the beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, Governor Lawal said the initiative was part of several programmes introduced by his administration to provide relief to the people and uplift the economic conditions of vulnerable households.
He commended the Federal Government and the National Cash Transfer Office for their strong collaboration in ensuring the success of the programme in Zamfara State.

According to the governor, each beneficiary will receive a cash support of N75,000.
He urged them to invest the funds wisely in small-scale businesses to boost both local and national economies.
“Let me categorically advise all beneficiaries not to give a single Kobo to anyone for processing their inclusion in the programme,” he warned.
Governor Lawal also cautioned programme officials against all forms of corruption, assuring that the government would not hesitate to take out any corrupt personnel involved in the exercise.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Relief Matters, Salisu Musa, explained that the programme aims to create a pathway towards economic stability, self-reliance, and improved well-being for vulnerable households.
Mr. Musa disclosed that a total of 279,534 beneficiaries have so far received payments under the programme. Of these, 99,321 met the minimum Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements set by the World Bank and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
He further revealed that 49,271 beneficiaries were verified using their National Identification Number (NIN), while 50,050 were processed using their Bank Verification Number (BVN). An additional 80,213 are currently awaiting KYC clearance before receiving their debit cards.

Mr. Musa called on all stakeholders—including community facilitators, local government officials, security agencies, and Grievance Redress Officers—to remain committed and diligent to ensure the seamless execution of the programme.
“Let us ensure that every beneficiary receives the full benefits of this programme without any obstacles,” he said.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Abdulmalik Gajam, stated that all beneficiaries were selected from the Zamfara State Social Register.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event expressed gratitude to the state government, saying the financial support would significantly boost their small businesses.
