Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration to effectively combat crime and insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and across the country.

This was the resolution after a strategic meeting held in Abuja when the newly appointed Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Mr Ajao Adewale, paid a visit to the FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr Olusola Odumosu.

Dr Odumosu, while welcoming the Police Commissioner, described the visit as a strategic move that signals hope for a more secure society through stronger cooperation among security agencies.

He expressed confidence that enhanced collaboration would result in a safer and more peaceful environment for all Nigerians.

The NSCDC Commandant noted that the synergy between the NSCDC and the Police in the FCT has already yielded significant results, particularly in tackling the menace of the “one chance” syndicate.

He pledged to sustain and deepen the partnership through continuous joint operations, intelligence sharing, and coordinated crime-fighting strategies.

“The collaboration between the NSCDC and the Nigeria Police Force in the FCT has been robust and productive. We have seen a noticeable reduction in certain criminal activities, and we are committed to ensuring this cooperation continues for the benefit of our citizens,” Odumosu stated.

In his remarks, the new FCT Police Commissioner, Mr. Ajao Adewale said his decision to visit the NSCDC as his first official engagement with a sister agency was informed by the impressive record of cooperation between the two institutions.

He said upon reviewing operational briefs shortly after assuming duty, he was struck by the level of collaboration already in place.

“I believe that multi-agency cooperation is not just important but essential. Security is a shared responsibility, and we must all work together to protect lives and property,” he said.

Mr Adewale affirmed his willingness to embrace new ideas and initiatives from the NSCDC aimed at enhancing the collective fight against crime and insecurity in the FCT.

He further appealed to residents of the FCT to support security agencies by staying vigilant and sharing timely information, stressing that “crime has no colour, tribe, or religion.”

He urged all stakeholders to unite in sustaining the relative peace currently being enjoyed in the territory.
