Former National Assembly member, Alhaji Idris Muhammad Keta, has expressed delight over reports that President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate payment of accumulated arrears for retired workers nationwide.

Alhaji Idris Keta in an interview in Kaduna noted that the Presidential directive would allow pensioners enjoy Sallah celebrations after the one month fasting.

He expressed hope that stakeholders would abide by the directive to avoid unnecessary consequences to serve as deterrent while calling on pensioners unions to monitor the exercise for effective implementation.

The Former Legislator was dismayed over complaints of delayed pension payments despite budgetary provision which should be investigated by the committees of the National Assembly.

A message from the South-West Office of the National Union of Pensioners also indicates that President Bola Tinubu directed payment of the arrears being awaiting by the beneficiaries.
