Kaduna State Government says the National Youth Service Corps – NYSC has been a transformative initiative to youths and the country at large for over five decades.
Governor Uba Sani made the remark at the opening ceremony of the Twenty-twenty four Batch “C” Stream Two Orientation Course held at the temporary camp in Kaduna.
The governor who was represented by Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Abubakar Buba urged corps members to see the orientation exercise as a gateway to achieving self-discovery and leadership skills.
He further added that his administration is fully committed to their safety and well-being as well as looking forward to the incredible impact they will make in the state.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Kaduna State Coordinator of the scheme, Mr. Hassan Mahmud Taura implored corps members to take the orientation exercise serious as it is designed to empower and broaden their perspective.
He stated that as at the time of swearing in, two thousand and ninety-six (2096) corps members comprising one thousand, three hundred and seventy-four (1374) for Kaduna and seven hundred and twenty – four (724) for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were registered.
Highlight of the ceremony included donation of safety flags by corps members of the NYSC Road Safety club to the state governor to aid crossing for children in schools situated along the road.
