In a landmark event today, Governor Mallam Umar Namadi has commissioned an Islamic Multi-Services Centre in Babbar Riga village, Malam-Madori Local Government Area, Jigawa State.
The center, constructed through a collaboration between Qatar Charity, a Qatar-based non-governmental organization, and the Jigawa State Government, is set to transform the community by providing integrated residential, educational, and spiritual facilities.
The newly commissioned center features housing units, a modern school, and a mosque, offering a conducive environment for learning and community development.
This initiative emphasised the Jigawa State Government’s commitment to fostering education and community upliftment.
During the ceremony, Governor Namadi commended Qatar Charity for its dedication and urged continued collaboration to extend similar projects across Jigawa State.
He announced that the facility would be managed by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to ensure proper oversight, including the deployment of teachers and other resources to the school.
“The center is a source of hope for Babbar Riga and surrounding areas. Education remains the cornerstone of societal progress, and this facility will contribute significantly to the development of Jigawa State,” the governor remarked. He called on the residents to utilize the center effectively.
In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Jigawa State, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, noted that the event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Qatari Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Ali Bin Ghanem Al-Hajri; and the Country Director of Qatar Charity, Mr. Hamdi Abdou.
Others are the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Abdullahi; the Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje; as well as other notable leaders and members of the community.
Qatar Charity officially handed over the facility to the Jigawa State Government, marking the beginning of its use by the local community. Mr. Hamdi Abdou, the charity’s country director, praised Governor Namadi for his vision and pledged further interventions in Jigawa State in 2025.
This project fulfills a promise made by Qatar Charity during Governor Namadi’s visit to their Abuja office last year.
The center exemplifies the charity’s mission to support education, empower communities, and alleviate poverty in Nigeria.
With this partnership, Jigawa State continues to set a precedent for meaningful collaborations aimed at addressing education and housing challenges, promoting sustainable development for its citizens.
