Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi has advocated for more investments in Northern Nigeria for national development.

He made the call during a courtesy on the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli at his palace in Zaria.

Mr Peter Obi explained that if the vast land in Northern Nigeria could be cultivated for agricultural purpose, it would suffice the whole country, export some and reduce the rate of inflation.

He observed that if leaders at all levels would faithfully harness the abundant natural resources of Nigeria, Nigerians would have no reason to be poor.

The former Governor, who was the presidential candidate in last year’s general election, also called for the resuscitation of moribund industries in Northern Nigeria, so as to accommodate the teeming unemployed youths.

Mr Obi added that he was in Zaria as part of his tour to some Northern states to feel their pulse and offer help where necessary to cushion the effects of economic hardship.

Responding, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli expressed delight over the visit and commended him for his intervention.

Highpoint of the visit was the commissioning of a water facility by Mr Peter Obi.
