Workers in Katsina State have joined the nationwide protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.

The protest which is being led by the state NLC Chairman, Comrade Hussaini Hamisu, proceeded from IBB Way through some major roads to the State House of Assembly at Kofar Sauri in Katsina metropolis.

While addressing the workers from various unions and chapters of the council from the 34 Local Government Areas of the state, Comrade Hamisu said the state NLC chapter mobilized its members to join the protest in view of the hardships being faced by workers as a result of the fuel subsidy removal.

“We want the federal government to acknowledge the need to introduce series of measures to cushion the hardships faced by workers and other Nigerians occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal.

“Transport fares have almost tripled, the cost of food and other essential commodities has increased significantly, Nigerians are finding it very difficult to adjust.

“We want government to provide palliatives in form of buses for transport, we are also calling on the federal government to fix Nigeria’s refineries to reduce the cost of fuel in the country”, Comrade Hamisu said.
