The Director General of the National Directorate of Employment-NDE, Malam Nuhu Fikpo has described Agriculture as a key component of Economic Development of the Nation.

Malam Nuhu Fiko stated this during the Flag Off and orientation ceremony of sustainable agricultural development and empowerment scheme held in Kano.

The Director General represented by the Acting State coordinator in Kano, Malam Abubakar Nasir Isa said the aim of the gesture was to make youths self reliant.

He said the Directorate remain focused, proactive and poised in fighting against unemployment through the promotion of self-employed initiatives, Attitudinal change and counseling to achieve it’s vision of Job for All.

Malam Nuhu Fikpo urged the beneficiaries to make adequate utilization of the loan given to them.

In his remark, the Director Rural Employment, Mr Edem Duke represented by Mr Joshua Fahbemi said 19 participants were selected from Kano State and each beneficiary will be given a loan of one hundred thousand Naira to kick start their trait, stressing that the loan will be repaid in three years.

Alkasim Mohammad and Halima Ahmadu were among the beneficiaries of the loan, they applauded the foresight and commitment of the federal government for providing the loan, saying they will make adequate utilization of the opportunity.

The 19 beneficiaries were given one hundred thousand Naira as soft loan to start a business aimed at becoming self reliant.
