The Federal Government has inaugurated130 Multifunctional Operational Vehicles for the Federal Road Safety Commission.

At the event in Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr George Akume, said the Federal Government is investing heavily on Transport infrastructure to enhance socio economic growth and safety of lives on the highway.

Mr Akume said the deployment of the operational vehicles would aid field operations which include rescue, recovery and speedy removal of obstructions on roads.

He encouraged other agencies of government to develop similar resourceful ways to improve their work processes in a cost effective manner.

The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dauda Ali-Biu said the operational vehicles would be deployed to enhance visibility particularly in the newly created One Hundred and Two Formations across the country.

Mr Ali-Biu reiterated the commission’s determination towards achieving the United Nations Decade of Action on Road Safety 2021 to 2030.

The 130 Multifunctional Operational vehicles comprises, 97 Patrol Vehicles, 10 Heavy Duty Tow Trucks, 15 Flatbed Tow Trucks, Five Ambulances, a one hundred and Fifty Six Seater Staff bus as well as Two coaster buses.
