Borno state Governor, Babagana Zulum and the Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency For Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Professor Mohammed Haruna

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of the Industrial Equipment and Machinery Development Institute (IEMDI) and Skills Development Institute in Borno state. 

Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency For Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Professor Mohammed Haruna conveyed the President’s approval when he paid a courtesy visit to Borno state Governor, Babagana Zulum at the Government House in Maiduguri. 

Professor Haruna explained that the institutes will promote research and manufacturing tools, machines, and equipment that will fast-track the establishment of cottage industries across the state. 

According to him, the institute would also produce spare parts of all equipment that would ensure industrialization not only of Borno but the entire northeast.

The Executive Vice chairman informed Governor Zulum that President Buhari has approved skills- development training for 100 youths to be selected from all the twenty seven local governments on vulcanizing and modern plumbing and will be given starter packs at the end of the training. 

“Your Excellency (Governor Zulum), I have these glad tidings for you from Mr President. The President has approved the location (Borno) for establishment of the Industrial Equipment and Machinery Development Institute (IEMDI). The President has also approved the establishment of the Skills Development Institute. These are as a result of your excellent performance” Professor Mohammed declared.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has promised to support any policy that will promote industrialisation of the state. 

He directed that thirty hectares of land be allocated for the two projects and all documentation should be completed within one week.
