An explosion reportedly caused by a petrol tanker which lost control in the ancient Jebba town, Moro local government of Kwara state , has killed six persons and razed more than 30 houses.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the tanker, travelling through the ancient town spilled its contents when it rammed into residential buildings.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman of Kwara state fire service, Mr Hassan Adekunle said the huge explosions accompanied by wild fire burnt down residential buildings, shops and killed up to six persons.

He noted that the swift response of the men of the State Fire Service brought the fire under control.

Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in a statement by his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives and property in the fire incident, describing the it as devastating and sad.
