ASUU National President, Biodun Ogunyemi

The Academic Staff Union of University-ASUU has suspended its 9 months strike which takes effect from tomorrow Thursday, December 24, 2020.


ASUU National President, Biodun Ogunyemi made the announcement during a briefing of the union in Abuja.


Biodun Ogunyemi explained that the development followed agreement reached with Federal Government in a meeting with its National Executive Council-NEC.


He however warned that the union would return to strike if government fails in its agreement reached with university lecturers.


The ASUU National President, noted that reopening of schools, considering the COVID-19 pandemic, was on Federal Government and senate of the university while thanking the students and their parents for their understanding throughout the nine-months period.


He added that ASUU and federal government agreed on University Transparency Account System- UTAS as against enrollment on IPPIS, noting that lecturers’ salary arrears would be paid by government on a different platform.
