Police in Sokoto state has succeeded in arresting one Nasiru Idris in possession of bulk permanent voter cards.

Briefing newsmen, the Police Commissioner for the state, Muhammed Usaini Gumel said the suspect who was arrested in Sabon Birni LGA was found in possession of one hundred and one PVCs during investigation.

Gumel explained that the suspect could not give proper account of the voters cards in his possession.

The commissioner said the owners of the cards are from different parts of the state stressing that the police are yet to trace the rightful owners of the PVC.

Muhammed Usaini Gumel sought for the support of the media to urgently assist in reaching out to the public with a view to identifying the owners of the PVCS for collection.

He noted that the police command would return all unclaimed PVCs after one month from the date of this media briefing to INEC for further necessary action.

Meanwhile, the command also announce the promotion and decoration of 7 of its senior officers to various ranks in the service.
