NEDC Donates Relief Materials To Gombe Flood Victims


The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has donated food items and cloth to flood victims in Gombe.

Radio Nigeria report that the items  donated were received by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Jatau in Gombe.

In his remark, the Managing Director NEDC , Alhaji Muhammad Alkali who presented the relief materials to the victims through the state government said that , the items included ; 10, 000 bags of rice, 3, 000 gallons of vegetable oil, and 5, 000 pieces of blankets.

Others were 5, 000 pieces of mats, 5, 000 bundles of wrappers, 3, 000 bundles of cotton clothes and 3, 000 pieces of children wears.

He noted that the flood disaster which occurred in  some part of Gombe State this year left in its wake destruction of lives and property , prompting the Commission to intervene by providing relief materials to the victims to cushion the effect.

Alhaji Muhammad Alkali said the commission would continue to partner Gombe State in providing the flood victims with additional relief support as well as reduce the level of humanitarian crisis brought about by the disaster.

In his response, Deputy Governor of Gombe state, Dr. Manassah Jatau who received the items on behalf of the government promised that they would reach the target population.

He thanked the commission for the numerous intervention and  said NEDC has been contributing immensely in improving the lives of citizens of the state and the entire region.
