As part of effort for the successful conduct of the 2023 general election, the Adamawa state police command has apprehended about forty four suspects including a sixty four years old man, and recovered sophisticated weapons in the state.


The state Commissioner of police, Sikiru Akande made this known during a press briefing in Yola.


According to him, the arrest was made in the active efforts of the command to ensure a successful conduct of the 2023 general election in the state.


Sikiru Akande said, the command has designed a crime fighting strategies in order to clear pathway for a smooth electoral process in a peaceful manner.


He explained that, all the suspects were apprehended in connection to kidnapping, robbery, culpable homicide, rape, causing grievous hurt, house breaking, theft and other violent crimes in some parts of the state.


The exhibits recovered from the suspects, comprises of 5 AK 47, 2 round of lives ammunition, pistol, locally made single barrel gun, 5 motor vehicles, 6 jerrican of engine oil, 7 cartons of Hydraulic oil,9 GSM phone,10 generators, 48 plasma Television, cutlasses, knifes and other dangerous weapons.


He further assured the general public that, the command will not allow space for any group of persons to temper with the existing peace and stability of the state.


The command , commended the government and people of the state for the continued support, and assured that, all the suspects will prosecuted on the completion of investigation.
