SMEDAN Empowers 240 Persons in Six State

A total of two hundred and forty persons from six states of the country are to be impacted with entreprenuership and vacational skills as well as empowernment materials of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria SMEDAN for self reliant.

Director General of the Agency Mr Olawale Fasanya stated this while flagging off a five day training of Specialised Skills Development for MSMEs programme held in Minna.

Mr Olawale Fasanya said the programme which is on three folds will provide start up package and support to the IDPs retirees as well as prison inmates in a special way that the Agency initiated Specialised Skills Development for MSMEs programme.

According to him the programme is aimed at creating jobs and alleviate poverty through empowering IDPs inmates and retirees to ensure that they became self reliant and financially independent.

Mr Olawale Fasanya further said the Agency has implemented Conditional Grant Schemefor micro enterprises in Nigeria in which forty thousand entreprenuers from twenty two stated across the country have benefitted from fifty thousand naira grand.

He also explained that the Agency is implementing one local government one product initiative un one hundred and nine senatorial districts in Nigeria. 

In his remarks Director General Niger state Chamber of Commerce Malam Adamu Salihu advised retired civil servants to as a matter of urgency engage in various skills that will make them more useful and productive in the society.

The programme is being implemented in six states of Imo Ondo Rivers Katsina Borno and Niger.
