The provision of basic social amenities is one of the factors towards improving the socio-economic development of rural communities.
But Gurjiya and Gadas communities in Kargi District of Kubau Local Government Area in Kaduna state are left behind in benefiting from such a dividend of democracy.
Radio Nigeria Kaduna visits the communities and also witnessed the difficulties faced by such communities.
The only road in the area which begin from Tashar Adamu along Anchau road to gurjiya Gadas about eighty kilometers is not motorable, hence leaving members of the communities to use motorcycles in transporting goods and Patients to neighboring Tudun Wadan Dankade Local Government in Kano State.
Therefore, the communities are calling on the Kaduna state government to construct bridge on kutunku river that links kutunku, gurjiya, and Gadas to Tashar Adamu and the Anchau road.
Speaking, the chairman of Gadas Youth Development Association Adamu Dauda kutunku Narrated the series of difficulties faced by the communities which include lack of potable drinking water, inadequate health facilities, no Major roads and a bridge on the kutunku river.
Adamu said patients and pregnant women who are about to give birth have to spend two to three days before crossing the kutunku river to visit hospital at neighbouring tudun Wadan Dankade Local Government Area in kano state.
Also speaking, one of the elder in gurjiya community mr, isyaku Masama Gadas said the community had only one primary school in gurjiya Gadas constructed in 1947 which is now in need of urgent renovation.
Similarly, Malam Ibrahim Yakubu Ban Gwani who is the Vice Chairman of Gadas Development Association said many politicians had promised to provide these basic social amenities during electioneering campaigns but no one fulfils the promises.
Investigation shows that kutunku, ,gurjiya, Gadas and Tashar Adamu communities are predominantly farmers, as such if the state government can come to their aid by constructing a bridge at kutunku river, road from Tashar Adamu will surely improve their living standard.
