Northeast Development Commission has so far executed 647 projects in agriculture, environment, education, health, and energy across 122 LGAs in the 6 states making up the commission.

The Managing Director of the Commission, Muhammad Goni Alkali, stated this in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the major interventions of the Commission since established 3 years ago.

Alhaji Goni Alkali, who explained that the projects were executed at 5.6 billion Naira, said they were spread across all 6 states under the Commission, with each local government having 50 billion worth of projects.

He said the Commission had built 1000, 4-bedroom houses in Ngwom, Borno State, and 500 in each of the states within its jurisdiction at 17.5 billion Naira.

Among the major interventions, according to the Managing Director, is the establishment of mega schools in each of the states in the region to enable youngsters to promptly make up for the time lost due to the effects of insurgence.

He said NEDC had supported security agencies in the area with 120 operational vehicles, and health facilities, including ambulances and other medical aids.

On human development, Alhaji Goni Alkali said NEDC had trained 3, 513 youth on phone repairs, and many other skills.
