Flood Threatens To Take Over Emir’s Palace In Jigawa

Some residents of Ringim have raised alarm over the persistent flooding that wrecked havoc in the community , threatening to take over the emir’s palace.

In an interview with newsmen in Ringim local government area, a resident explained that the incident happened due to torrential rain that lasted for three days.

According to him, the rain resulted in the overflow of a stream known as Rafin-Kainuwa which is less than three hundred meters drive to the emir’s palace in the Ringim metropolis.

It could be recalled that, the Emir of Ringim Dr. AbuBakar Sayyadi Mahmoud had on several occasions appealed to the Jigawa state and federal governments to come to the rescue of the people of the area.

Also in an interview, the Chairman of Ringim local government Alhaji Shehu Sule Udi said the perennial flood had sacked over fifty families in Majiyawar-Gari, Tsigi, and Katutu quarters.

He said the local government council had provided six powerful water pump machines to transfer the water outside the residential area.

“Since the beginning of August we have deployed six powerful water pumping machines to evacuate the water from the residential area but due to continuous rain most of the residents were displaced,” he said.

He also warned residents against blockage of culverts which interrupt the easy flow of the water.

Alhaji Shehu Udi noted that the local government will take serious action against anybody found blocking the culvert.

He urged state and federal governments to come to the aid of the people of the area.
