Minister of state of Works and Housing Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Elyakub has reassured of federal government’s commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the ongoing reconstruction of the Kano – Zaria – Kaduna dual carriageway.

The minister gave the assurance during an inspection visit to the ongoing projects.

The minister and his entourage drove from Kano to Zaria to physically assess the ongoing dualization of the road.

Alhaji Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub who expressed satisfaction with the quality and the level of the ongoing project urged the contractors to expedite action in ensuring that the project was completed within the stipulated period.

“The administration of President Mohammadu Buhari is currently undergoing various infrastructures in all the geo-political zones of the federation, which is a demonstration of ensuring that his campaign promises were being fulfilled”.

He maintained that over one thousand youths were employed by the company handling the project, saying the gesture was a great milestone in addressing the challenge of employment among the teeming youths of the nation.

The minister urged the contractors to employ more indigenous engineers on permanent or casual appointments to groom them to handle future projects in the country.

” I urge the company to always employ our young engineers so that they would be groomed and handle feature projects that would be initiated by the incoming administration “

He appealed to road users using the road to accord maximum support to the company by ensuring the project witnessed accident free construction.

El-Yakub expressed satisfaction with the equipment used by the company, stressing that when completed the dual carriageway would ease transportation between the northwestern states as well as improve the economic well-being of the nation.
