The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, Ahmed Magaji Kontagora and his Management team had patrolled Zagi-Augie road for an on the spot assessment of the security situation in the area following the recent report of invasion of Zagi Village in Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State, a border community with Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State by suspected bandits on Thursday.

In a statement by the Command’s image maker, SP Nafi’u Abubakar and made available to Radio Nigeria in Birnin Kebbi, said the Commissioner of Police personally supervised the deployment of tactical teams drafted to restore normalcy in the area.

The statement said, the effort of the Commissioner of Police was also complemented by the Acting Commanding Officer, 1 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Dukku Barracks, Birnin Kebbi, Captain Ogah, who was also part of the patrol team.

It stated that, CP Magaji Kontagora and his entourage also visited the internally displaced persons, temporarily sheltered at Augie Local Government Secretariat, where he assured the victims and residents of additional deployment of Police specialized teams in the area to prevent the infiltration of the bandits from the neighboring Sokoto state.

The statement solicited the support of the community to cooperate with the security personnel deployed in the area to ensure the territorial borders of the state are adequately secured.
