Alhaji Yusuf Sani Babura

Jigawa State government has confirmed the death of fifty persons with many displaced as flood ravages parts of the state.

The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency SEMA, Alhaji Yusuf Sani Babura disclosed this to newsmen in Dutse, the state capital.

According to him, the flood destroyed thousands of homes in the state.

He pointed out that, the situation forced Jigawa residents to take refuge in other places, which include government buildings.

Alhaji Yusuf Sani Babura said some of the victims are from Balangu Village where over two hundred and thirty houses were destroyed with four people dead.

Radio Nigeria reports that, the state government accommodated many displaced persons in eleven temporary camps. 

It could be recalled that, President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk to distribute relief materials to victims of flood disaster in the state.
