The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has charged the general public to come out en mass to register at the ongoing voter’s registration before the July 31st deadline.

According to the Emir, voter registration is the only way for eligible voters to exercise their franchise by electing leaders that will move the country forward.

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero explained that INEC had earlier extended the deadline due to the high number of eligible voters that are yet to get their permanent voter’s cards.

He maintained that the INEC Kano office has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that eligible voters have been registered across the forty-four local government areas and special centers.

” It is the only way to show the strength of our large population during elections”, the emir added.

Earlier, the Independent National Electoral Commission through its spokesperson Ahmad Adam Maulud said the agency was working assiduously in discharging its duties to ensure the success of the exercise.

The Public Relations Officer maintained that Kano has emerged as one of the leading states in the ongoing revalidation and voter registration exercise nationwide.

He said the INEC Kano Office has established a new registration center at Sani Abacha indoor stadium which has witnessed a large turnout of people to revalidate and register.

The Public Relations Officer maintained that the large turnout of people for the revalidation of the voter’s registration cards was a result of a massive sensitization campaign by INEC on the importance of registration.

” I believe with this large turn out, we are ahead of all the states in the federation”, He added.

Maulud noted that PVC’s do not expire only those who wish to revalidate and make corrections pertaining to date of birth, name, and change of polling unit among others are expected to visit the centers.

Radio Nigeria reports that statistics released by INEC revealed that over four hundred and fifty fresh registrants have completed their registration in Kano.
