Governor Aminu Bello Masari has distributed relief items worth over N21 million to five communities recently attacked by armed bandits in Safana Local Government Area of the state.

The beneficiaries include victims of armed baditry, kidnapping among others.

The communities that benefitted from the gesture were Zakkah, Sabon Garin Gamji, Kunamawa, Kukar Rabo and Tsaskiya who were attacked by armed bandits some weeks ago.

Also affected were some families in Kunkunna village which were mistakenly bombed by an Air Force fighter jet when it went for an operation in the forest recently.

While distributing the items, Governor Aminu Bello Masari said the gesture will go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the victims and their families.

Represented by the Chairman of Safana Local Government Area, Alhaji Kabir Muhammad Umar, the governor assured the communities in Safana and neighboring Local Government Areas that the state government was doing its best in collaboration with security agencies and vigilante groups to restore normalcy to the areas.

The governor’s representative listed the items distributed to the beneficiaries to include 400 bags of rice, 200 bags of maize, 1000 bags of guinea corn and 50 bags of millet.

Others were 100 cartons of spaghetti, jerricans of cooking oil, mats, and bathing soaps among others.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Director Education and Social Services Department of the council, Ahmed Kabir Batsari urged authorities concerned to provide more weapons for security agencies and vigilante members to strengthen their capacity to carry out rescue operations.

Two beneficiaries, Abdulkadir Ado and Malam Amadi expressed appreciation to the state government and the Batsari Local Government council for the support which they said would restore normalcy in their lives.

They also urged Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts in the fight against armed baditry and kidnapping in the area.
