Borno state Police has announced the restriction of vehicular movement on Sallah day (today) from Seven in the morning to noon within Maiduguri metropolis and environs. 

The restriction will include the use of motor vehicles, tricycles and bicycles except for those on essential duties.

In a statement by the Command’s spokesman ASP Sani Kamilu says the measure is to ensure a hitch free eid prayers. 

According  to the statement, high visibility patrols, stop and search and  intelligence gathering have been intensified within the period and beyond.
 
The command reiterates its commitment to ensuring a crime-free sallah celebration.

“In pursuance of the above, the Commissioner of Police Borno State Police Comman, has made adequate security deployment of officers and men across the State for effective security coverage throughout the celebrations”

The statement advised muslim faithful to pray at Eid prayer grounds close to their homes and to ensure they go early enough for security screening.

The Command also warned youths who carry knives and other dangerous weapons to prayer grounds or recreational centres to desist or face the wrath of the law.
