The Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar II has charged government to include entrepreneurship skills as part of girls education curriculum.

Alhaji Ibrahim made the call while receiving members of Girl Education Partnership (GEP) with support from Partnership to Engage Reform and Learn (PERL) at Karaye emirate council, Kano state.

According to the Emir, entrepreneurship training would go a long way in making women self reliant and reduce unemployment.

Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar II pointed out that, improving the lives of women and youths was the bedrock of any meaningful society.

He said Karaye emirate council had proposed the establishment of a federal university of Agriculture and a federal college of education in the area.

“It is good to educate women we advise government to include entrepreneurship in girls education to make them self reliant”.

In his remarks, the team leader of the delegation Who also doubles as Chairman CSACEFA and a lecturer with the department of Adult education and community development, Bayero University Kano, Dr. Auwal Halilu explained that the girl child education partnership (GEP) with support from PERL, is a coalition of government officials, civil society organizations and the media, advocating for improvement in girl’s education.

He explained that they were at Karaye Emirate council to seek for blessings and cooperation of the Emir in advocating for enrollment, retention transition and completion of girl child education.

While commending the emirate council for it’s dedication towards education, Dr. Auwal said Kano state government has incorporated some schools in Karaye as part of those that will benefit from interventions under the girls education budget due to the efforts of GEP.

“Our visit will further motivate government to expedite action on the implementation of the budget”.

Also speaking, a member of the committee, Malam Akibu Hamisu said the girl child education partnership with support from PERL has conducted research on girls education in three local government areas of the state.

He maintained that the efforts has yielded positive results as the state government had establishment a girl child education unit as well as budget code for girls Education in 2022 financial year.

Radio Nigeria reports that, GEP with support from Partnership to Engage Reform and learn is a coalition of stakeholders in girls education who converge and brain storm on how to uplift the standard of girls education according to international standards.
