Armed bandits have abducted at least 80 people from Faru village in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Confirming the incident to Radio Nigeria, Chairman of the Local Government council, Alhaji Bashir Sabi’u disclosed that among the abducted were dozens of women, children and the elderly.

He noted that over two hundred bandits invaded the town which was on the Katsina-Niger Republic border where they vandalized shops, food stores and other valuable property.

Sabiu lamented that at present, about two thousand people displaced by the attack and were taking refuge in Jibia and Magama towns.

Radio Nigeria recalled that two other border towns were attacked by the bandits in the last two weeks, resulting in the abduction of five people and displacement of several others.
