President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerians to allow the security and unity of the country guide their actions and utterances as another season of electioneering approaches.

In an Easter message he personally signed, President Buhari urges Nigerians to increase their love for one another rather than hate, and show more patriotism, emphasising that Nigeria is the only country they have.

He wants Nigerians to remember that the scriptural emphasis of love has so much relevance for them today as a nation more than ever before, and thus contribute towards its peace and development.

The President says Easter should evoke in Nigerians the resilience of the human spirit not to give up in the face of seemingly daunting challenges of life.

He says the period should embolden them to believe that the current spate of uncertainty and insecurity will soon unfold a season of triumph of good over evil, hope over despair, and light over darkness.

President Buhari notes that this year’s celebration is unique for adherents of the two great faiths in Nigeria, as it is the season of fasting, prayers, assistance to the poor, abhorrence of injustice and strife, alms-giving, penitent engagement in self-examination, and repentance of sins.

The President wishes Nigerians a joyful and blessed Easter.
