House of Representatives has rejected the Bill seeking to provide special seats for women in the states and National Assemblies as 209 Lawmakers voted against it.

Other Bills rejected by the house related to women are the Bill that seeks to provide 35% affirmative action in the leadership of political parties in Nigeria and the Bill seeking the extension of citizenship to foreigner by marriage.

The house, however, adopted financial autonomy for State Houses of ASsemblies and States Judiciary in the ongoing Constitutional amendment process.

The lawmakers, also voted for financial independence of local government councils and voted in favour of the bill seeking to empower States to generate power.

The bills seeking to grant presiding officers of the National Assembly pension and provide the procedure of removing presiding officers of the legislature were also voted against.
